Working with us starts off with an idea, a sketch or a plan of the parts to be produced.
Following this, we discuss the possible course of action with you in order to arrive at the desired result.

Based on a manufacturing-oriented design, we have our own software solution for realizing geometries with almost any shape, e.g. freeform surfaces and microstructures. In addition, our specially developed manufacturing process for ultrasound-assisted machining enables the fast ultra-precision machining of steel and other materials with diamond tools without any indirect routes. Measurements for controls and the possible correction of forms round off the complete process chain for manufacturing high-precision optical components. The bundling of these special competences makes son-x unique to you.


1. An inquiry with a drawing or sketch

We accept inquiries in different forms: Either as CAD data relating to the optics / mold inserts to be manufactured or as 2D drawings of components.

2. Manufacturing-orientated design

In the case of most inquiries, fine details need to be discussed in order to synchronize expectations and the technical possibilities. Often, the design is adjusted slightly in order to obtain a manufacturing-oriented, perfectly fitting model. After coordination, an order is placed on the part of the customer.

3. Programming

After the order is placed, we create the manufacturing program for our machines according to the drawing or the 3D data.

For this, we use our own software solutions in order to ensure the multi-axis machining of complex surfaces with the highest levels of precision in order to manufacture geometries in nearly all shapes, e.g. free-form surfaces and microstructures.

4. Manufacturing through ultra-precision machining

Mechanical production is the core of the process chain. All components must be precisely coordination for maximum accuracy: the program, the diamond tool, the machine dynamics and, of course, the operating staff.

5. Qualification using technical measuring systems

In the manufacturing of optical components, the use of technical measuring systems for verification is an important part. The components which are made are tactilely and visually checked using technical measuring systems. The measurement of roughness and shape are the usual procedures. son-x always strives to reflect a high level of technology in its equipment.

6. A satisfied customer

Even after a project, there is often intensive customer contact in order optimize the use of the manufactured products e.g. mold inserts. Together with our customers, we also improve the products, so that alongside the final products, manufacturing is continuously pushed forward.
